American Feeding Systems provides parts feeding systems that
are designed and manufactured to meet each customers exact needs. This page describes some of the
basic features and options that are available to our customers.
Feeder Bowl All AFS feeder bowls are custom tooled using 304 11 ga. stainless steel. Bowls are outside tooled, and bead blasted as a standard finish. Other finishes can be specified.
Lining The bowl can be lined with several different materials depending on the application. Typical linings are Polyurethane, Teflon, Brushlon, etc.
Cleanout This is a removable section of the bowl which allows the bowl to be emptied quickly for part changeover.
Sound Enclosure This is an 1/8” thick aluminum box lined with a minimum of 1” accoustical foam. This disassembles without the use of tools for easy access.
Inline Track This is a horizontal vibratory track used to move the parts from the bowl to the point of use. All tracks are constructed from tool steel unless otherwise specified.
Gravity Track This is a non-vibratory track that is normally on a 35 degree down angle. Parts slide down this track from the bowl to the point of use.
Belt Conveyor This is a tooled belt conveyor that conveys the parts from the bowl to the point of use. Parts are held in the proper orientation on the belt.
Full Track Switch This is a fiber optic sensor that turns the bowl off when the track is full and allows it to run when the switch is open. Our standard is Banner.
Hopper This is a table mounted auxiliary supply bin of parts that automatically fills the bowl when a switch in the bowl calls for parts. When the switch is satisfied, the hopper stops.
Elevator Hopper This is a floor mounted bin that elevates the parts into the feeder bowl.
Base Plate This is a steel plate that is at least 1” thick that all the equipment mounts to. This can be blanchard ground if required.
Table Legs These convert a base plate to a free standing table. Jack screws are standard for leveling the table.
Mounting & Wiring of Controls This is if you want AFS to wire and mount the controls on the base plate.
Escapement Any
kind of mechanism that isolates the part for pickup.
